Seeing stories as plants and seeing our collective story as a food forest allows us to view the harvesting of stories as a choice we are making in the narrative we tell ourselves about ourselves. In that harvest we design the world that designs us back - a vision of the earth we want to live with. The preservation of these stories, like the preservation of the fruit of plant bodies, gives us sustenance as a society to hold onto to the wisdom that we harvested in an earlier season. Preserving a story is a choice as well: a decision of what and how we remember this fruit. Making the choices of which stories we harvest and how we preserve them with care is vital and fun.
